Position Title: Associate Pastor of Youth and Children
Reports to: Senior Pastor
Job Requirement: 40+ hours weekly
Salary Range: 40-45K
Principal Function:
The principal function of the Associate Pastor of Youth and Children is to provide Christian leadership to youth, children, and young adults. The Associate Pastor of Youth and Children will facilitate and implement programs and activities that lead youth and children to Christ with a focus on continued discipleship and spiritual growth. Additionally, this position will assist the Senior Pastor with all pastoral care ministries.
Specific List of Responsibilities:
Youth, Grades 6-12
a. Develop and implement a variety of Christ-centered ministry opportunities that will meet the needs of middle and high school students and their families in the church as well as in the community.
b. Connect with local middle and high schools to offer Christian support services that will allow the ministry access to the campus.
c. Provide leadership to the following programming:
d. Assist in the selection, enlistment and training of middle and high school Sunday School workers in consultation with the Senior Pastor.
e. Provide the direct line of communication to middle and high school Sunday School teachers to reach, teach, and minister to youth and their families.
f. Support the spiritual growth of youth through family discipleship.
Children, Birth to 5th grade
a. Assist and oversee the Children’s Ministry Team in developing a ministry strategy for children, birth to 5th grade, which provides a variety of programs and opportunities that will meet the needs of preschoolers, elementary children and their families in the church as well as in the community.
b. Provide leadership to the following preschool and children’s programming:
c. Assist in the selection, enlistment and training of children’s Sunday School workers in consultation with the Senior Pastor.
d. Provide the direct line of communication to children’s Sunday School teachers to reach, teach, and minister to children and their families.
e. Support activities in area schools and recreation events.
f. Support the spiritual growth of children through family discipleship.
Other general responsibilities:
a. Be an accountable steward with the resources that God has provided to the ministries at Ballard’s Bridge.
b. Be accountable in living in such a way which glorifies Jesus and furthers the mission and ministry purposes of Ballard’s Bridge.
c. Annually, submit the Youth and Children’s budget to the Finance Committee and ensure each works within their budget.
d. Keep growing in ministry by annually attending conferences, conventions, and continuing education.
e. Fill the pulpit in absence of the Senior Pastor.
f. Keep open communication with all Ballard’s Bridge Baptist Church Ministries.
g. Perform basic website updates.
h. Perform other duties assigned by the Senior Pastor.
Basic personal responsibilities:
a. In addition to normal responsibilities, the Associate Pastor of Youth and Children is a member of a ministry team dedicated to Christian service and shall therefore seek at all times to conduct himself in such a way that would be pleasing to the Lord.
b. Adhere to church approved guidelines as set forth in Ballard’s Bridge By-laws.
c. Maintain a vital and growing personal walk with the Lord through committed Bible study, prayer and meditation as well as develop personal evangelism opportunities within and outside of the church.
d. Support the ministries of Ballard’s Bridge by faithfully giving their time, treasures, and talents.
